Overview

The Xtralis ICAM IFT-P Aspirating Smoke Detector is a very early warning smoke detector that can reliably detect fire during its early stages. ICAM IFT-P detectors have a sensitivity range from 0.001% to 20% obscuration/m (0.0003% to 6.10% obscuration/ft) and can detect low to high concentrations of smoke over an area of up to 2000 m2 (21 500 ft2).

Xtralis ICAM IFT-P detectors can be configured to suit an assortment of different environments and can provide reliable and accurate smoke detection for heavy industrial applications such as factories, chemical plants, mining facilities and warehouses as well as telecommunications and IT facilities.

How It Works

IFT-P detectors use powerful aspirators to draw air through sampling holes in an aspirating pipe network. The air is then filtered before being analysed in the detectors laser detection chamber.

The detectors aspirator is a 2000 Pa high volume and high-pressure fan. This provides superior detection times over long pipe lengths and reliable detection in high airflow environments. The airflow of each pipe is monitored by a dual element thermal sensing system. Airflow faults are indicated on the detector's display and sent to monitoring equipment.

Four individually programmable alarm states (Alert, Action, Fire 1 and Fire 2) are shown using the detectors LED display, along with an OK/Fault indication. Dedicated output relays also provide interfaces for each alarm state and device fault.

Programming and Configuration

IFT-P detectors can be configured using Xtralis’ Configuration and Fire System Management software packages, Xtralis VSC and Xtralis VSM4, via RS232, RS485 and TCP/IP communication interfaces. The RS485 interface also allows connections to remote displays, and the TCP/IP Ethernet Interface can provide access to an email messaging service.

The IFT-P detector supports a maximum of three optional modules, which provide the detector with additional programmable output relay interfaces, and 4 to 20 mA analogue outputs.
